“Grand Contest on Chemistry for High School Students” was established in 2004 to encourage high school students and to promote high school chemistry. Since 2004 the contest has been held every year, and the 10th contest will be held in 2013. The contest has been organized by Osaka City University, Osaka Prefecture University, and Yomiuri Shimbun being one of the biggest news paper companies in Japan and has been supported by the Ministry of Education in Japan, the Chemical Society of Japan and so on. Ten teams selected prior to the final contest give oral presentations and the rest of entry teams give poster presentations about their research results in the final stage and judged by top scientists and educators. Several prizes such as Ministry of Education Prize and so on are presented to some excellent oral and poster presentations.

The 10th contest will be held in 2013 at Osaka, Japan as an international contest. Many entries from high school teams in foreign countries are welcomed. The details of entry are shown below.

In addition to competition presentations, a few high school teams will be invited from foreign countries to the contest and give invited talks in English.

The international contest is a good occasion for high school students and teachers as well to present their research results in front of a large audience, to discuss their results with other high school students, and to interact actively with researchers, scientists and educators belonging to universities.
